Equi-Tape® - THE Elastic Kinesiology Athletic Training Tape especially designed for Horses

Since its early introduction , the treatment with Kinesiology Tape proved to be very successful for humans in the fields of rehabilitation, prevention and training. Especially after the wide spread use of Kinesiology Tape from athletes during the Olympic summer games 2012 this modality gained a lot of popularity and more and more therapists and ahtletes are using it.

With a product that showed to be so successful for humans it was only a matter of time, for it to be used for animals and especially horses.

Equi-Tape® was the first Kinesiology Tape, that was especially designed for the use on horses. It is made of an elastic cotton fabric with an advanced adhesive technology, which makes the application, removal and longevity on fur easy and long-lasting. It was developed in the early 2005 by the american veterinarian Dr. Beverly Gordon. Since then Dr. Gordon has continuously improved the use of Equi-Tape® and developed the Equi-Taping® method for a holistic treatment during training, recovery, rehabilitation and prevention of the four-legged athlete.

The effect from Equi-Taping® is based on the interaction of the tape with the skin and therefore with the neuro- and mechanical receptors within the skin. The elastic kinesiology Equi-Taping® does not compress the tissue, like earlier non-elastic tapes used to do. On the contrary: it decompresses tissue and improves circulation. With the "lifting"-effect of the decompression the tape also influences the pain receptors.

(These are experiences and values collected by Dr. Beverly Gordon, other experts and many, many practitioners over the years during their daily work and use of Equi-Tape®. A definite, scientific research and result for the effectiveness of Kinesiology Tape does not exist.)
